AI Is Ready to Act. Companies Are Not.

As intelligent systems move from pilots into vehicles, factories, and fleets, the bottleneck is no longer the model. It is the operating environment that lets the model earn its authority to act.

AI is ready to act in the real world, but most organizations aren’t ready to let it. In his CTech op-ed, NGV General Partner Tal Cohen argues that once AI moves into vehicles, factories and fleets, the bottleneck is no longer the model. It is the “habitat” around it. A habitat sets the boundaries of the system’s job, keeps a record of its actions, grants authority in stages, and ties each action to a visible consequence. Systems should earn independence step by step, based on evidence rather than demos. Companies that keep that evidence will deploy faster each time. Tal sees this layer as a strong opening for startups, and building it as a natural strength for Israel.
